Jemma Reedy

Whilst having a broad litigation practice, Jemma focuses on government, regulatory, administrative and public law as well as appearing in child protection and domestic violence proceedings. Jemma regularly appears for various government bodies as well as individual clients in contested litigation in the above areas.

Prior to being called to the Bar, Jemma was employed as a legal practitioner for 12 years, primarily within Queensland's Department of Justice. She worked within the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, the Office of the Director of Child Protection Litigation and the Office of General Counsel, with her role consistently involving trial advocacy and written advice work. Prior to commencing at the Bar, Jemma was employed as a Senior Principal Lawyer in an in-house capacity within the Department of Justice, providing written advice and appearing in litigation for an extensive number of business areas, regulatory bodies and independent statutory authorities across all facets of law. 

Additionally, Jemma worked as a Senior Associate within a national law firm in its government and public law team, with a focus on litigation related to the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

Jemma has appeared in Courts and specialist Tribunals in both State and Federal jurisdictions across a range of matters, including summary offence and regulatory prosecutions, disciplinary proceedings, merits reviews, information privacy complaints, child protection and domestic violence litigation. 

Jemma obtained her Bachelor of Laws from the Queensland University of Technology in 2013 and was admitted as a Legal Practitioner to the Supreme Court of Queensland in 2014. Jemma was called to the Bar in 2026 and is currently completing her readership with Holmes Chambers.

Jemma is also a member of the Women Lawyers Association of Queensland and the Child Protection Practitioners Association of Queensland.
